Etiquette Of Issuing Fatwas
Issuing fatwas and providing guidance for the Muslim community is a sacred trust that is not to be taken lightly. The Prophet of Islam said, "I was only sent to refine human character (Ahmad)." In this light, these are some of the etiquettes that govern our work:

A Mufti Must Be
Sincere and God-fearing
Display patience and wisdom
Maintain integrity throughout the fatwa process
Be properly trained and licensed in the craft of fatwa
Maintain confidentiality.
Speak truthfully and avoid extremism.
A Questioner (Mustafti) Must
Be honest in stating all the facts of their case.
Show respect for the Mufti and their craft.
Understand that each Mufti has their own process of arriving at valid opinions.
Respect the time and effort that goes into the fatwa process.
Avoid "fatwa shopping" and reflect on the answer given.
Hold the Mufti in good regard even if there is a difference of opinion.
